Rachel Ella Bell, 84, died Thursday, Aug 25, at Washakie Memorial Hospital. She was born Oct 12, 1898 in Hope, N.M.., to John and Margaret (Miley) Sanders. On Feb 3, 1917, she married James Bell in Gillette, WY.
She moved to a ranch in Sheridan County when she was two years old. Following her marriage she lived on a homestead near Arvada. While on the ranch she was active in 4H club work, community clubs and in church work. She lived in Buffalo for a short time before moving to Ten Sleep in 1960 to be near her family. In 1979 she moved to Bethesda Care Center in Worland.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1963. Survivors include two sons, William Bell of Arvada and James Bell of Challis, Idaho; three daughters, Mrs. H.H. (Dorothy) Arnold of Sheridan, Barbara Bell of Santa Clara, Calif., one brother, Ernest Burns of Sparks, Nevada; one sister, Mrs. Paula Durnfold of Cheyenne; 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Monday, Aug. 29, at the Ten Sleep Methodist Church with the Rev. Theodore Cox officiating. Burial will be in the Ten Sleep Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from noon until the time of service at the church in Ten Sleep. Viele Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.
