Lucien F. (Jinks) Burgess
1906 – 1974
If you go to Medicine Lodge (Near Hyatville) and see the Indian writings on the cliff you will see Jinx Burgess's name and date. Jinx lived at that ranch. He was a boy of about ten when he and his friend Speed Martin painted their names on the cliff. They hung from ropes over the top of that cliff. Below the cliff were the corrals that went with the barn. I think that Jinx father built that big red barn that is still there. Bob Michael remembers that Charleen Merritt told him that Jinx worked in a munitions plant during the second world war, The plant was somewhere around Salt Lake City. He was a little old to be enlisted at that time.
