The following was researched and compiled by Faye Bell (SLC) 2013

Ella Sweeney Carrier was born to Harry and Ann Sweeney on the 29th June 1904 in Nebraska.  The Sweeney family moved to Spring Creek , WY before 1910.  In 1912 her brother Robert (Bob) joined the Sweeney family.  Ann had been a schoolteacher and  Harry was an accomplished artist, but their lifestyle was as farmers and homesteaders.  Ella graduated from High School (probably Worland, WY) and met and married Joseph H Carrier ca 1926/27 and the couple were endowed with 3 daughters:  Betty Ann, Harriet L. and Joella Carrier—in order of their birth.  In 1930 the family were in Election District #4, Washakie County, WY and listed as farmers.  By 1940 the family had moved to Appleton, Missouri, to be with Joseph’s parents Abner and Bettie Carrier and were, in essence, managing Abner Carrier’s holdings.  Ella passed away in residence at Meeteetse, Park County, WY in January 1988 (age 84) (according to SS Death Index).  She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Bob Sweeney.

Memories:  Ella Sweeney was cheerful and vibrant—a strong woman who kept close to her parents until Harry died in 1935 and close to her mother until her passing in 1955.  Her complexion was ruddy and her black hair was a big contrast.  I recall she and her family visiting Ann Sweeney when we lived next door to each other.   At that time I understood they lived on the Gooseberry Creek (Hot Springs or Park county, WY).  The last time I saw the carriers was about 1938.   fb
