Marion Kyle Compton nee Potts was born on September 23, 1915 in Nebraska to Evart and Hazel Potts and in 1930 she had a little sister named Eva Potts. (No more census statistics). She married Uel Compton, son of Bert and Jane Compton and they had 7 children: Bert Rae, Robert, Rex, David and Norman plus daughters Sue and Ula.
In 1940 she was living in Hyattville with her husband and first child Bertie. Throughout their marriage they moved to a number of places in Wyoming including Sheridan and Gillette. In 1941 the Uel Compton family were in Ten Sleep. She got her teaching certificate from the University of Wyoming. By 1965 they were in Sheridan and shortly after she wound up in Ten Sleep for a second time where she taught elementary school (ca. 1967) for several years. She passed away on January 6, 2002.
Memories: Marion Compton was an enthusiast for education. She got a teaching degree after she married Uel and it appears she taught whenever she could and wherever. She was a strong woman committed to providing for her family and in pursuing a good family heritage. Tall, dark and handsome – that was Marion Potts Compton. fb
