            Israel Emmett (Mickey)Daugherty was born on August 3, 1891, in Jasper County, Indiana, to Paris and Lucy Daugherty.  In the late 1890s, the family became residents of Wyoming leasing a place near Greybull.  Early in the 1900s, Paris Daugherty bought 960 acres from Jake Untsinger, sheep were run, a crop of oats raised so Israel Daugherty was reared to the ranching and farming business.  He was educated at a country school near Greybull, WY.  He was considered a successful rancher improving ranch property eight miles southeast of Ten Sleep, WY.  He ran some five hundred head of high-grade commercial Hereford cattle with the brands Square and Compass.  Israel was married to Thelma Rice; the couple had two children—Esther (1924) and Israel, Jr. (1927).  Thelma Rice Daugherty passed away in 1928.  Later Mickey married Bertha Dow Lewis at Billings, Montana March 24, 1945.  Bertha had a daughter Betty Lavonne that Israel took into his home as well.  On February 20, 1963, Israel Emmett Daugherty passed away.      TEN SLEEP --- Ten Sleep native and former longtime resident Israel "Bub" Daugherty, 70, died on Sunday, March 15 in Pahrump, Nev., after a long fight against cancer.
     He was born in Ten Sleep on May 24, 1927, a son of Israel "Mickey" and Thelma Rice Daugherty.  Mickey's father Paris Daugherty was one of the early settlers in the Ten Sleep area, and the first vehicle in the Ten Sleep area was owned by Paris.
     "Bub" married Carol English in 1953.  They had two sons --- Lester Andrew, born Dec. 28, 1955; and Daniel Earl, born Dec. 20, 1959.
     "Bub" married Winifred "Wyn" Bell on March 10, 1980.
     Mr. Daugherty was a cowboy all his life, working on the family ranch near Ten Sleep.  He was a top hand with horses.  It was said he could get more out of a horse than anyone else.  His natural was with horses would classify him as a "horse whisperer" by today's standards.  He was known for having excellent horses with lots of spirit and endurance.
     Like many cowboys, Mr. Daugherty had some wild and interesting times while growing up.  He once killed two dear with the same bullet, yet emptied his pistol on a skunk and the skunk got away.
     He is survived by his wife; and by his two sons, Lester of Ten Sleep and Daniel of Mesquite, Texas.
     Services are scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday at the Ten Sleep Methodist Church.
