     Tordon 'Tony' Dron, a Romanian emigrant who planted the apple orchards in the lower part of Tensleep Canyon, died Friday at Riverton Memorial Hospital following surgery.  He was 95.

     He was born on Jan. 12, 1892 in Comorzan, Romania, a son of George and Zirinca (Pauls) Dron.  He came to the United States in 1912, living at various places before settling in the Big Trails and Ten Sleep area where he first was engaged in sheep ranching.  He later moved to the lower part of Tensleep Canyon where he operated an apple orchard for many years.

     On Aug. 27, 1926 he married Minnie Frank in Billings, Mont.  She died in 1965.

      After selling his home in the canyon, Dron moved to Thermopolis.  Most recently he lived at the Bethesda Care Center in Worland.

      He was preceded in death by two sons.

     Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Dave (Theo) Horn; of Worland; a grandson, Vincent Horn, and two great-grandchildren, Emerson and Tiffany Horn, all of Casper.

     The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Ten Sleep Methodist Church, Rev. Jim Heikes officiating.  Burial will be in Ten Sleep Cemetery.
