Doris I. Egbert

1924 – 1936

{Added to this was the report in the Worland newspaper concerning the funeral services as they were held for the 12-year old girl and retrieved by Terril Mills of Ten Sleep January 2014.

Doris Eileen Egbert was born to David and Maizie Harbison Egbert on March 16, 1924, in Washakie County, Wyoming.  She had an older sister Ione Egbert (age 16) and a younger sister, Norma Alice Egbert (age 10) at the time of her passing.  The sweet and happy child was a member of the 6th grade in Ten Sleep elementary school and left a good many friends.   She had been diagnosed with pneumonia and died at the age of twelve on February 28, 1936, at a local hospital in Worland, WY.  The Funeral services were held at the Ten Sleep Church where a vocal quartette consisting of Florence Shriver, Doris Rice, Mrs. John James and Marie Mills sang accompanied by Harold Pearson.

Memories:  Doris Eileen Egbert had a cap of shining black hair, thick and lustrous and her eyes were a very dark brown.  Both of her sisters were red haired and she stood out in her personal appearance—comparatively tall as well.  I recall the day they announced her death in school and when I hurried home to tell my mother that she had died. I was in the second grade and so I saw Doris frequently in the halls of the old Ten Sleep school.  fb
