Death Fight Lost By Nye Engineer

"Tonopah, July 2 - Under the auspices of Tonopah Lodge of B.P.O.E. the body of Commager C. Hall, better known as Mage was buried in the local cemetery. Deceased was 63 years of age and was one of the Connager Halls of Ohio. Born on a farm near Toledo he came west to the Coner d'Alenes at an early age and identified himself with mining and for a short time was engineer of the Colorado Midland railroad. He took an active part in the Rawhide boom and was one of the best known leasers in the early day excitements of Tonopah, Goldfield and Manhattan. For fifteen years he was in the latter camp.

When his health began to fall he removed to Long Beach, and, after a stay of a couple of weeks, he was told his case was hopeless. Being a man of iron will he resolved to prove that the physicians erred and announced his determination to return to Manhattan. From the date of his arrivial two weeks ago, his health seemed to improve and he applied for reinstatement in his old job as hoist engineer on the White Caps. Next day he was taken sick and brought to a hospital where he expired Monday night. Mage Hall was married to Miss Florence McCabe at the first wedding in Manhattan. It was attended by the entire population. The home of the couple among the pines was known as Bluebird Cottage."
