Frances Pauline Harvard, 87, died April 16, 2004 at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper.

 

She was born at her grandmother's home in Big Trails, Wyo., to Clarence Alvin and Florence Pearl (Brown) Waln.  Pauline was raised in the Ten Sleep area and attended elementary schools at Big Trails, Spring Creek and in Ten Sleep. She then attended high school at the Campion Academy at Loveland, Colo., where she graduated in 1936. Following high school she attended Union College at Lincoln, Neb.  Pauline then returned to Ten Sleep where she worked for Clyde and Florence Harvard and met her future husband, Archie. She and Archie

Lewis Harvard were married Dec. 9, 1941 at the Baptist Parsonage in Worland.  Following their marriage the couple moved to Worland where they lived for 62 years. She worked as a cook at Washakie Memorial Hospital for three years, then was a school cook at West Side Elementary School for 16 years. She retired in May of 1986.  Pauline was also the baby-sitter in the nursery at the United Methodist Church in Worland for 18 years.  Pauline was an active charter member of the Worland Seventh-day Adventist Church where she served as the church treasurer for 20 years. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed making holidays and birthdays extra special for her children and grandchildren. She especially enjoyed flower gardening and was a charter member of the Worland Homemaker's Club. She enjoyed playing table games with family and friends.

 

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Marvin, who was killed in World War II; and her sister Thelma Waln, who died last September. She is survived by her husband. Archie L. Harvard of Worland; son, Henry (Doris) Harvard of Casper; daughter, Peggy (Chuck) Morrison of Walla Walla, Wash.; brother, Theron Waln of Powell; grandchildren, Heather Morrison of Portland, Ore., Jason (Lonna) Harvard and Chad Harvard of Casper; and a step great-granddaughter, Britney Sunderman of Casper.

 

Her funeral will be held Wednesday, April 21 at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Worland. Pastor Gordon Henderson of Casper will officiate. Burial will follow at the Ten Sleep Cemetery at 4 p.m. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation - Memorial Honors Program, P.O. Box 2680, North Canton, Ohio 44720.
