CHARLES (Charlie) RIDDLE

Charlie Riddle was
born 14 Jan 1896 in Nebraska as per the 1910 Federal Census to Robert M and Martha
Riddle. When Charlie was 4 years old the Riddles moved to Lead
City, Lawrence, S Dak (1900 U.S. census) and in 1910 they were in Stillwater, Carbon Co. MT. By 1917, he informed the WWI draft
board that he lived in Absaroke, MT and worked for
Louis V Dell on the Dell Ranch and considered himself a farm laborer. The
draft registration describes him as short, medium build, blue eyes and dark
brown hair. The Riddle family then consisted of Fletcher,
Robert, May P[Pearl], Josie A, Fred G and Sherman F Riddle. On April 26,
1926 Charlie Riddle married Pearl A Simpson, daughter of Bert and Bessie
Simpson of Ten Sleep. The couple was married in Worland,
WY and there quickly followed three children: Nina Fae, Mabry Merton and Melvin Riddle. Charlie Riddle
passed away on the 24th of
December in 1929 and his third child and second son Melvin was born shortly
after Charlie’s passing. His death preceded his mother Martha Riddle and
his brother Robert L Riddle, also of Ten Sleep.

Charles Riddle, 28, Passed Away Tuesday
Charles Riddle of Ten Sleep, a young man about twenty-eight
years of age, died at his home on Tuesday, following a sickness of about four
months. The cause of his death was given
as cancer of the lungs.
Funeral services were held at Ten Sleep today.
He is survived by a wife and three children, in addition to
his mother and father and brothers and sisters.
