     CHEYENNE --- Florence R. Shriver, 90, former mayor and long-time resident of Ten Sleep, died in Cheyenne on Thursday, Jan. 5.

     She was born Oct. 15, 1904 in Kentland, Ind., a daughter of Frank and Georgia (Cowlthorp) Harold.

     She received her early education in Ten Sleep after the family moved there.  She also attended high schools in Nevada, Mo. and in Worland.

     She taught school in Ten Sleep before marrying  Roy B. Shriver on May 3, 1925 in Worland.  They lived on various ranches in the Worland area.

     She was a substitute schoolteacher and served as Ten Sleep's Postmaster for 13 years.  She and her husband also operated the Ten Sleep Drug for 23 years before retiring in 1973. 

     Mrs. Shriver was the mayor of Ten Sleep from 1974 to 1983.  She moved to LaGrange in November 1988.

     She was a member of the Methodist Church and the LaGrange Homemakers Club.

     She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Scott of LaGrange; a sister, Agnes Temple of Sheridan; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

     A memorial service will be held later in Ten Sleep.

     The Colyer Funeral Home of Torrington is in charge of arrangements.

     TORRINGTON --- A memorial service for longtime former Ten Sleep- and Worland-area resident Florence R. Shriver will be held at 1 p.m. May 27 at the United Methodist Church in Ten Sleep.

     Burial of the cremains will follow at the Ten Sleep Cemetery.  The Rev. Ted Cox will officiate at the service.

     Mrs. Shriver died in Cheyenne  on Jan. 5.
