     TEN SLEEP --- Longtime Ten Sleep resident Carrie F. Vanarsdall, 85, died on Monday, May 18, 1998 at Washakie Memorial Hospital in Worland.

     She was born on May 27, 1912 in Rosita, Colo., a daughter of Thomas J. and Bessie May (Moore) Carr.  She was raised at Rosita, and attended schools there and in New Mexico and Denver.

     She married Jesse Vanarsdall on Dec. 19, 1929 at Westcliff, Colo.

     Following her marriage, she lived at Westcliff until moving to Ten Sleep in 1959, where the family was in the timber and sawmill business.

     Mrs. Vanarsdall had been a member of the Ten Sleep VFW Auxiliary, and had  worked as a maid at the Ten Sleep motels.

     While living in Colorado she had been employed at a box factory in Montrose.

     Her hobbies included quilting, crocheting, embroidery, beadwork, and cooking and canning --- which she had passed on to her grandchildren.

     She is survived by her son, Vernon "Cub" Vanarsdall of Ten Sleep; three daughters, Mary Vanarsdall and Dorothy Dockery of Worland, and Wilma Pyle of Greeley, Colo.; 18 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

     She was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 8, 1996; and her parents, four brothers and five sisters.

     Visitations are scheduled for noon until 2 p.m. Thursday at Ten Sleep Methodist Church.

     The service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Ten Sleep Methodist Church, with the Rev.  Wesley W. Kendall officiating.

     Burial will be at Ten Sleep Cemetery.
