TEN SLEEP – Reva Marie Williams, 73-year-old Ten Sleep resident, passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at the Washakie Medical Center in Worland.
Reva was born on March 12, 1938 in Hanford, Calif. She was the youngest of six children born to Leonard and Dora Jane (Mills) Carr. She graduated from Polly High School in Riverside, Calif. in 1956. She married Wayne George Williams on Dec. 27, 1956. Three children were born to this union.
She worked as a switchboard operator for the March Air Force Base in California. She also pulled travel trailers from Southern California to Oregon for a while and had many adventures during those trips. She moved to Ten Sleep in 1975. In 1986, she moved to Virginia where she worked as a receptionist for Central Motors, retiring in 1995. Following her retirement, she relocated to Redfield, S.D. where she lived until returning to Wyoming in 2000.
Two of Reva’s greatest loves were dancing and motorcycles. She began riding motorcycles at age 17 and it became a passion she kept through the rest of her life. She and George loved to cut a rug, which they did until his health would no longer permit it. Her other hobbies included writing poetry, doing different types of craft work and reading. She enjoyed hunting and fishing in the mountains. Her friends and family were most important to her. She became “mother” to many. She loved her friends like family. She and her husband were members of the 49er’s CB club. Her handle was “Mischief,” George’s was “Tormentor” and the children each had their own certified handles as well.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George in March 2000; brothers, Alvin and Jimmy; and sisters, Agnes and Gladys
Survivors include her children, Marty Williams of Ten Sleep, Randy (Wendy) Williams of Spotsylvania, Va. and Dana Seay of Ten Sleep; “daughters” Diane “Natalie” (Alan) Anderson of Idaho and Barbara White of Sheridan; one sister, Azzale Kinley of Riverside; grandchildren, Amber, Ashley, Misty, Brandie, Jessica and Gennisee; six great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family.
