WORLAND -- Floyd Albert Roberts, 76, of Worland, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 1998, at his home.
He was born Feb. 26, 1922, in Glendo, to Thomas David and Hazel Phoebe (Mittan) Roberts. He was raised near Glendo, and attended a one-room school until the seventh grade. He then worked on ranches until entering the U.S. Navy in Sept. 1942. Following discharge in Dec. 1945, he returned to Wheatland to make his home. He farmed there, then moved to Worland in 1957, where he also farmed for a couple of years. He then worked in the oilfields and for Swing Trucking, before going to work for Dees Trucking, where he was a mechanic and driver until retiring in 1985.
He was married to Ruby Ester Lipps in 1947 at Wheatland, and they later divorced, then to Sally Lindley in 1976 at Worland. She died in March 1993. He was a member of the American Legion and the Eagles. His hobbies included fishing, camping, woodworking and taking walks.
He is survived by three brothers, David Roberts, of Portland, Ore., Henry Roberts, of Wheatland, and Everrette Roberts of Loveland, Colo.; three sons, Ronald Roberts and Rodney Roberts, both of Cody, and Roland Roberts, of Worland; and two daughters, Dorothy Garcia, of Thermopolis and Susan Monasmith, of Worland.
Also, he is survived by a stepson, Gene Lindley, of
Services will take place at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, at Veile Mortuary Chapel, with Ray Cox of Worland officiating. The ashes will be buried at the Ten Sleep Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to the American Legion Baseball Program at
